Jerusalem artichoke tubers look a little like ginger root, with brown skin and an irregular, lumpy shape. They have a sweet, nutty, earthy flavour and have been said to taste like water chestnuts when raw, and a mixture of potato and artichoke heart when cooked.
They are a good source of carbohydrates, thiamine, phosphorus, and especially iron, and are also an under-recognized source of potassium – they have about as much as a small banana!
When storing them, they will keep in a refrigerator for 1 to 2 weeks.

Great mix. Avocados ripen 1 or 2 at a time not all at once. I mostly use the lemons and limes for cordial so it works out great.

Consistent Quality Avocados
I switched my avocado subscription to Oakridge from another supplier that was not delivering consistent quality. I think I made the right decision as the avocados I have been receiving from Oakridge have been uniformly excellent.

There was some confusion about when the avocados were actually shipped. The email said that items had shipped when in fact they had only been assigned a tracking code. Deliveries to the South Island take more than 1-2 business days depending on when the order is placed. Apparently orders are only filled Mon-Wed. I can't fault the product. Probably the best avocados I've ordered.
